If you spend any time on the internet you will come across all kinds of sites that look great and include all kinds of neat features but take forever to load and are nearly impossible to navigate. These are things that you can't do; your visitor will just click the back button and go someplace else if they can't find what they are looking for quickly and easily.

It is also important to keep in mind that when you are designing a website that it is part of your brand and you need to make sure that you have a designer who understands that as well. The main thing here is that your site has to be designed in a way that is distinctively yours and that people will instantly connect with your company. Ideally all of the pages on your site should look the same and they should all be integrated with your offline marketing materials.

It should go without saying that your website needs to work properly but apparently it does need to be said. A lot of web designers do a completely inadequate job of testing the site to make sure that it works properly. The result is that you will have to back and have all of these things corrected later.
